The chemical industry comprises the manufacture of products made from hydrocarbons, minerals and other raw materials through chemical processing.
The Chemical Industry can be divided into 10 sub-sectors:
1. Inorganic chemistry (ammonia production, soda production, sulphuric acid production)
2. Organic chemistry (acrylonitrile, phenol, ethylene oxide, urea)
3. Silicate industry (Ceramics, Cement, Glass)
4. Petrochemicals (Benzene, Ethylene, Styrene) 5.
5. Agrochemicals (Fertilizers, Pesticides (Insecticides, Herbicides))
6. Plastics (Polyethylene, Bakelite, Polyester)
7. Explosives (Nitroglycerin, Ammonium Nitrate, Nitrocellulose)
8. Pharmaceutical chemistry (Drugs) 9.
9. Elastomers (Rubber, Neoprene, Polyurethanes) 10.
10. Perfumes and Cosmetics (Coumarin, Vanillin, Camphor).
The first Sulphuric Acid plants were built in what is now the EU. To meet the needs of the rapidly growing textile and glass industries, the production of soda ash was developed. The first soda production plants also originated in the territory of the present EU.
Mixers for the chemicals industry
Thanks to a rapid process of concentration, a high level of scientific and technological development and a vigorous trade policy, Germany became a world market leader in the chemical industry at the beginning of the twentieth century. Our experience showed that one of the relevant issues for the industry was the heating of the product during the mixing process, or rather the non-heating of the product during the mixing...
As the GloMix chemical mixer has a spherical shape, it creates the smallest possible surface area in relation to the enclosed contents. This creates minimal friction between the inner wall of the vessel and the mixed substances, thus avoiding the slightest heating of the product during the mixing process.
